About Lily 

Lily Smith is a 27-year-old French-American soprano. Born in Paris, France, she later moved to the United States and now resides in Boston, MA.

Highlights of 2025 include being a finalist in the Mildred Miller International Competition and winning the North Dakota District of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. This summer, she spent three weeks at Sewanee OperaFest, performing in the scenes program as Juliette in Roméo et Juliette (“Amour ranime mon courage”) and Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte (“Prenderò”). She also presented solo recitals throughout the year in Boston (MA), Dakar (Senegal), Durham (NC), Charlottesville (VA), and Paris (France).

Since finishing her Master’s of Music degree at the USC Thornton of Music in 2022, Smith has taken on a great variety of roles in both the contemporary and the standard repertoire. She performed the title role of Svetlana in the world premiere of All The Truths We Cannot See, in Helsinki, Finland. Other roles include Laetitia in the Old Maid and the Thief, Cendrillon in Massenet's Cendrillon, Madam Mathilde in On Gold Mountain, and more.
